A Lifeline for Families in Drought-Affected Regions

The East African region is currently facing one of the most severe hunger crises in decades. Repeated droughts, failed harvests, and regional instability have pushed millions to the brink of starvation. Our teams are actively deployed in the worst-hit regions, including: Tigray, Amhara, and Afar (Northern Ethiopia) – Communities recovering from conflict are also battling food scarcity, with over 9 million people in need of urgent food assistance. Somali and Oromia Regions (Eastern Ethiopia) – Four failed rainy seasons have left livestock dead and fields barren. Baidoa, Bay, and Lower Shabelle (Somalia) – Famine-like conditions are threatening hundreds of thousands of lives, especially children under five. Garissa and Turkana Counties (Kenya) – Pastoralist communities are facing acute malnutrition due to prolonged drought. Karamoja Sub-region (Northeastern Uganda) – Extremely high malnutrition rates among children and women due to food and water shortages. We don’t just provide food; we provide relief, hope, and dignity during some of the darkest times in a family’s life. In these desperate times, they are in urgent need of critical aid and relief. They need your help now more than ever.

What We Provide Family Food Packs: Each pack is carefully assembled to meet a family's basic nutritional needs for several weeks. These packs typically include rice, maize flour, lentils, cooking oil, and fortified cereal. Emergency Meal Distributions: In remote villages and IDP camps, we organize mass cooked meal distributions, providing hot, ready-to-eat food to thousands in a single day. Nutrition Support for Children: We offer therapeutic food like Plumpy'Nut and vitamin supplements to children suffering from acute malnutrition. Mobile Feeding Units: Our outreach teams use mobile vehicles to deliver aid in hard-to-reach areas such as Shabelle zone in Ethiopia and Gedo region in Somalia. Real Impact: Stories from the Field In partnership with Babul Hayer Charity Organization, we recently delivered food packs and hot meals to over 3,000 people in the Somali Region of Ethiopia, where drought has decimated entire communities. One mother, Amina, shared with us: "When I received the food pack, I cried. Not because of sadness, but because someone still cares. My children slept with full stomachs for the first time in a long time.”
