Wells of Mercy: Bringing Clean Water

Imagine waking up every day knowing the only water available is unsafe — shared with livestock, miles away, and contaminated with disease. For millions of people across East Africa, this is a daily reality. At MHR USA Charity, we are determined to change that. Our clean water programs are restoring health, dignity, and hope by providing safe, accessible water sources to drought-affected and underserved communities. The Water Crisis in East Africa Water scarcity in East Africa is not just a seasonal issue — it’s a growing humanitarian crisis. Repeated droughts, poor infrastructure, and climate change have made clean water dangerously scarce. Here are some of the most affected regions: Somali and Afar Regions (Ethiopia) – Villages walk up to 8 hours daily just to reach a shallow well. Jubaland and Gedo (Somalia) – Entire communities rely on contaminated rivers and water trucks. Turkana and Marsabit (Kenya) – Pastoralist tribes are facing deadly dehydration and livestock loss. Karamoja (Uganda) – Children are forced to drink from muddy puddles or drying riverbeds. Without clean water, everything suffers: health, education, livelihoods — and especially the lives of young children. Our Clean Water Solutions MHR USA Charity is actively working on long-term, sustainable water projects in these vulnerable regions. Our goal is not just to provide water, but to ensure it’s clean, reliable, and community-managed. Here’s how we’re making a difference: 🚰 Deep Borehole Wells – We drill solar-powered wells in villages with no water access. These wells provide fresh water 24/7 for hundreds of families. 🚿 Handwashing & Hygiene Stations – In schools, clinics, and markets, we install hygiene stations to help prevent the spread of disease. 🪣 Emergency Water Trucking – In drought emergencies, we deliver thousands of liters of clean drinking water to displacement camps and remote villages. 📚 WASH Education (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) – We train communities on hygiene, water storage, and sanitation practices to prevent waterborne illnesses.

The impact of clean water is transformational: Health: Waterborne diseases like cholera, diarrhea, and typhoid are dramatically reduced. Education: Girls can return to school instead of fetching water all day. Livelihood: Families can grow crops, raise animals, and cook nutritious meals. Dignity: Women and children are freed from the danger of long walks through unsafe areas.
